6 Terms + 1 Internship = MBA!!! This is the requirement of AUA School of Business and Management.

Many of MBA2 students are in hustle and bustle of their Internships. There is still one more term to go and the happy graduation ceremony will be the reward for 2 year “torture”.

What is an Internship in reality? “Internship is a system of on-the-job training for white-collar jobs, similar to an apprenticeship” (and YES, I know wikipedia is not the most reliable source). As for an intern: “A student or a recent graduate undergoing supervised practical training.”

Does this +1 really serve for what it is supposed to? Are the MBA students of AUA really getting the training they need in local companies? And if they are what is the guarantee their “internshiper” will become their employer?

Questions which I don’t want to answer…

What is obvious is that interns will go on looking for “useful” internships and the companies will continue searching for “Super-Interns”.

I was wondering which are the top companies MBA students  prefer to work for? Many of my fellow MBA students were already working before AUA, some of them found jobs later on. But the question is are they working for the employers they wished they were? Or are they just on jobs they were able to find?

A simple research* of mine helped me find out top 15 companies MBA students all over the world prefer to work for: Read the rest of this entry »

The new president of American University of Armenia organized a meeting with MBA students. Moods of my classmates before and after the meeting differed a lot.

It was really honour for us to meet the president, Mr. Bruce Boghosian. I am really sorry to tell this but I haven’t ever met the previous president of the University. I am even more sorry but hardly any of my classmates has ever met the president unless there was an issue, mostly something negative.

Anyway.

Mr. Boghosian provided with his personal e-mail and asked us to drop him a message whenever we want to discuss something. You may consider this a simple and logical step from the university president but we were happy to be treated personally. Read the rest of this entry »

MBA, MBA, MBA!!!

(Yerevan, Nov. 28, 2010) Some two weeks ago our MBA (Master of Brilliant Attacks) football club played a semi-final match against a team that was a mix of students from different departments. We discovered that our boys are not only emotional football fans but also rather good football players. Read the rest of this entry »

MBA second year students have studied hard. Isn’t it too little to say about their first academic year which lasted from Sept. 2009 to Dec.2010 without any vacation?

We are already 2nd year students and are very proud of it. The only “complain” we have is the lack of vacations. Yes! I mean lack of any vacation during the summer 2010.

Garnik, a friend of mine from CoE, always makes fun of us, MBA students. “How was your summer vacation?” was his favorite question whenever we met in the elevator Read the rest of this entry »

Hurray! It’ s the last day of winter term!

Of course, not the last day officially as many of us still have environmental course exam to take. But after Business Ethics class which was the last course for this term we have 12 days of vacation.

The winter term was our second term. Everyone has already realized what it is to study in AUA. I think everyone in our group has arleady developed some tips for himself/herself to “survive”. Read the rest of this entry »
